To win the tournament and lift the cup, Sevens athletes must embody the attributes of Africa's 'Big Five' game animals: dominance, smarts, defence, power and attack. This concept formed the foundation of AE Live’s design principle for this award-winning work.
The action-packed sequence spotlights winning plays from the tournament - each channelling the power of the 'Big Five': the elephant, the buffalo, leopard, rhino and lion. The titles imagery was accompanied by the striking Rugby World Cup Sevens theme, rearranged by African composers and instrumentation.

The strong colour palette, contemporary character design and kinetic motion graphics gave the titles vibrancy, impact, and a unique style. We then reworked the design for package elements across the world feed and social media. Match Graphics adopted contemporary layouts and new type setting, utilising the title sequences’ look and feel for consistency.
