World Rugby needed a sports package to engage a diverse new generation of rugby fans with this international tournament.
AE Live built a full graphics package around two ideas: contemporise the visual language and make rugby easy to follow for first-time viewers.
To appeal to younger audiences the titles drew from indigenous culture and local mythology. Every detail was researched meticulously to create a Pacific Champion for each competing nation; together the deities converge to release the tournament ball from the Pacific Ocean.

The Pacific Nations Cup logo as a navigator, became the cornerstone for the entire graphics system. Placed at the heart of the score ticker, it presented live game information in a way that guided newcomers through the rugby action in real time. The match graphics system reflected the title sequence’s energy, outlining glassy, screen data panels to draw the viewers’ eye.
