Real-Time Graphics Artist

Reports to: GM, AE Live US & Creative Director (UK)

The Role.

We are looking for a highly skilled Real-Time Graphics Artist to join our growing US team. This role will have proven experience designing, building and deploying real-time graphics for live broadcast environments. The role demands creativity, technical expertise and the ability to deliver visually compelling graphics under tight deadlines. Youwould be expected to deliver error-free graphics, independently research and provide technical support to a high level. This is a creative role that requires the ability to innovate, learn and collaborate with our teams around the globe under varying deadlines to maintain the quality of our product.

Due to the nature of this role, our business and the events we work across, a moderate level of flexibility is required including domestic travel and irregular hours, days and working some holidays.

Your Role Accountabilities.

‍

• Create innovative real-time graphics templates and scenes for live broadcasts, sports events and studio productions.
• Utilize Vizrt Artist, Viz Trio, Chryon Prime and HTML to develop dynamic, data driven graphics.
• Plan, build, maintain and update graphic directories independently or while collaborating with a team of developers, sometimes in a lead role.
• Provide ownership, direction, troubleshooting and support for clients.
• Implement new innovative approaches to real-time graphic design.
• Utilize other graphics software such as Photoshop, After-Effects, Illustrator and Cinema4D to aid in the creation of designs and animations.
• Utilize and understand AE Live proprietary software and workflows, and how these systems work together with the graphics renderer to create our industry leading broadcast graphics.
• Contribute to wider company initiatives and more specialty business segments such as touchscreen, virtual production, data visualization, augmented reality etc.
• Work closely with management on deliverables to manage internal and external team-members expectations, ensuring effective and timely delivery.
• Whilst working as part of the global AE Live Design team, you will be expected to at times work independently, to research and answer technical and design questions and solve issues.
• Partner closely with internal teams in the US and within our global organization (Software, Operations, Engineering) to ensure seamless integration of graphics into live workflows; to help shape proposals and pitch innovative solutions.
• Co-ordinate with our teams around the globe to provide feedback, improve process and apply best practice to our on-air design team output.^‍
• ^‍Assist with hardware and/or software upgrades and new scene builds.
• Translate project details and creative direction into custom design, animation and layout solutions.
• Push creativity and software skills to higher levels, explore new technology and actively communicate on all phases of a project to maintain the quality of AE Live’s on-air product.
• Adhere to proper file management and design project techniques and to ensure efficient archiving and easier retrieval of projects.
• Maintain the highest standards of efficiency, consistency, accuracy, creativity and timely delivery of all graphics requests.
• Adhere to all AE Live administrative responsibilities, including time entry and daily reporting requirements.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform creative direction.
• Represent AE Live at industry events, conferences and client meetings.

Qualifications & Experience.

‍

• Advanced technical expertise and proficiency in Vizrt (Artist, Trio, Viz Engine) and Chryon Prime (Designer, Playout).
• Strong understanding of key components of Vizrt (Scripting, Datapool, Transition Logic) and Chryon Prime (Parameters, Expressions, Conditions).
• Ability to understand, deconstruct and transfer Adobe After Effects projects into Viz Artist and Chryon Prime.
• Extensive experience and knowledge of real-time rendering and broadcast graphics workflows.
• Minimum of 5 years in live broadcast graphic design.
• Demonstrable skills and the ability to design visually appealing graphics that enhance storytelling.
• Knowledge of typography, color theory and motion design principles.
• Extensive familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects) for asset creation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proactive, strategic thinker with the ability to conceptualize design solutions.
• Fluent in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook).
• Knowledge and practical use of other graphic design programs (Affinity Suite, Inkscape, Blender, Cinema4D, Adobe Substance 3D)
• Proven aptitude for quick project solving, critical thinking, anticipating consequences, eliminating obstacles and decision-making in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines.
• A commitment to high-quality work and to maintaining positive and productive relationships with team members, peers, managers, and clients.
• Excellent verbal communication with strong presentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and to self-manage, working autonomously when required.
• The legal right to live and work in the United States.

In accordance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations wherelegally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data,location, skill set, experience and/or performance. Pay range: $80,000 – $130,000 salary per year.
